Scale Installation-Up and Weighing Now that you have the foundation, approaches and ramps constructed, it is time to install the scale. SCALE INSTALLATION Either your contractor or your scale consultant will provide the factory trained individuals to install your scale. When your scale gets installed, ensure that all of the entities involved are present. TESTING AND CALIBRATION Your service provider is typically the entity that will test and calibrate your scale. Calibrating your scale is highly dependant on what type of electronics the scale manufacture utilizes. Some electronics allow you to calibrate the scale by simply using the indicator and some scales still require the calibration technician to open junction boxes and adjust pots or resistors to calibrate the scale. Digital calibration is the most current technology utilized in above ground truck scales. If your scale does not have this technology, then.. CERTIFICATION (Weights and Measures) Once your service provider has tested and calibrated your scale, some states will require the state weights and measures department to come in and certify that your scale meets and the criteria set by H-44. Other states allow state certified and licensed Scale Technicians to place the scale in service for commercial use. In either case, once this has been done, your scale is now officially legal for trade. |
